I’m Josey
Originally born in Taipei, I moved around with my parents on the west coast of the U.S. and spent a good portion of my childhood in Arcadia, CA. When I was about 10, we moved out to Dallas, TX and I’ve been here ever since.
I like to credit being a violinist for 9 years and my love of Lord of the Rings for my career in sound design. Playing violin competitively was a great creative outlet for me growing up and I found the sound design for the Fell Beast in The Two Towers fascinating. In true Texas fashion, I’m a former equestrian and had a horse for a few of my teenage/college years — I know… a missed opportunity for field recordings indeed. I transferred to The University of Texas at Dallas as a biology major, interested in physical therapy. It was after my transfer that I learned they offered sound design courses and said “Say less, fam”. Although my journey into game audio wasn’t linear, my time as a sound designer in the EdTech space has equipped me with life lessons and skills that have most certainly prepared me for my current path in game audio.
You can catch me bingeing TV shows while cuddling with our doggo, browsing local antique stores, or running errands for Mickey in Disney Dreamlight Valley when I’m off the clock. I’m a Texas Rangers fan and try to go to baseball games as much as I’m able. I’m still basking in the afterglow of their World Series win in the 2023 Postseason.
If you’d like to get in touch or wanna talk about why Rebels is a better TV show than Clone Wars, feel free to connect with me on my social links below or e-mail me! You can also download my resume here.
